Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
As a Building & Refrigeration Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various building systems—such as lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility infrastructure—while also supporting the operation and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems, particularly ammonia-based systems. This role offers hands-on exposure to electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, carpentry, painting, grounds maintenance, and cross-training in refrigeration, including opportunities for growth within a high-performance, cold storage environment.Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility systems, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and building infrastructure.
Assist with electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, carpentry, and painting.
Conduct routine inspections to proactively identify maintenance needs.
Support general grounds maintenance (e.g., snow removal, landscaping).
Maintain compliance with company safety standards and applicable regulatory guidelines, especially in ammonia system handling.
Assist in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial refrigeration systems (with emphasis on ammonia-based systems).
Monitor refrigeration alarms and respond to alerts, ensuring safe and efficient system operation.
Support daily, weekly, and monthly PMs on refrigeration and building systems.
Maintain detailed maintenance and refrigeration service logs.
Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to support warehouse operations, infrastructure upgrades, and refrigeration-related improvements.
Participate in cross-training programs for material handling equipment (MHE) and refrigeration disciplines.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Hands-on experience in facility maintenance, electrical/mechanical systems, or industrial refrigeration preferred.
Refrigeration Knowledge: Exposure to or experience with ammonia refrigeration systems (IIAR certifications a plus).
Technical Skills: Familiarity with building systems, plumbing, basic HVAC, and electrical troubleshooting.
Certifications: OSHA safety, ammonia refrigeration (CIRO, CARO), or HVAC certifications highly desired.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in both building and refrigeration systems.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and operate in cold storage environments and around pressurized refrigeration systems.
