Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Engineer to join our Life Sciences facility in Spain. This role is critical for maintaining optimal temperature control systems that support our research, development, and production operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems specific to life science applications, including ultra-low temperature freezers, cold rooms, and laboratory cooling equipmentPerform preventative maintenance on refrigeration units to ensure compliance with GMP and other regulatory requirementsTroubleshoot and diagnose complex refrigeration system issues using technical documentation and diagnostic toolsMonitor refrigerant levels and perform refills according to environmental regulations and safety protocolsMaintain detailed maintenance records and validation documentation for audit purposesCollaborate with facility management and laboratory staff to address cooling needsRespond to emergency situations and temperature excursions to protect sensitive biological materialsEnsure compliance with Spanish and EU regulations regarding refrigerants and environmental impactQualificationsTechnical degree or certification in refrigeration engineering, HVAC, or related fieldMinimum 3 years' experience with industrial refrigeration systems, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare environmentsKnowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to life science facilitiesExperience with computerized building management systems and temperature monitoring systemsProficiency in troubleshooting electronic control systemsValid F-gas certification and understanding of current refrigerant regulationsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and documentationFluent Spanish required; English proficiency preferredSkills & AttributesStrong technical problem-solving abilitiesDetail-oriented with excellent documentation practicesAbility to work in a regulated environmentGood communication skills for interacting with various stakeholdersComfortable working in laboratory environments with sensitive equipmentAdaptable to changing priorities and emergency situationsWork EnvironmentMay require shift work to accommodate facility operationsOccasional on-call duties for emergency responseWill require working in various temperature environmentsPPE compliance required in certain areas of the facility
