Job Title: Reference Processing TechDepartment: Lab Services Location: Elmgrove Park | 160 Elmgrove Park Hours Per Week: 40Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 6am - 2:30pm SUMMARY: Documents reference testing results in the Laboratory Information System per departmental procedures and communicates any discrepancies to Supervisor, pertinent departments and clients. Performs initial entry and verification/QC of results from Referral Laboratories. Generates and monitors pending lists for referral testing. Generates, reviews, sorts and envelopes reports. Investigates problems from reference laboratories and determines corrective action needed. Communicates effectively to internal, external customer and management of follow up to investigations, sample requirements, Customer Service Actions, problems identified, information needed to reference labs and additional testing needed to ensure proper patient care. Monitors inventory and ordering of supplies. Laboratory and pathology services are vital to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. With convenient patient laboratory service centers, home lab services, expert pathologists and in-hospital diagnostics, we offer the full range of testing services to the communities we serve. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Monitors, enters and reviews results from reference laboratories. + Posts and generates preliminary reports for testing performed at reference laboratories. + Must be fully trained and proficient in all assigned functions of reference and reports processing. + Generates, reviews, sorts and envelopes reports. + Generates and monitors pending lists for referral testing, investigates and implements corrective action as needed. + Investigates specimen problem logs from referral testing laboratories and investigates, updates and completes Customer Service Actions (CSAs) for pending referral testing. + Accurately documents all aspects of problem identification and facts as they are known in order to facilitate staff investigations and corrective actions needed. + Understands and follows company policies and procedures and respecting patient confidentiality. + Participates in meetings with department manager and supervisor on a regular basis. + Works with supervisor(s) and other laboratory staff to plan for and accomplish departmental and organizational goals and objectives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: + High School diploma or equivalent required. + 1-2 years experience in a laboratory setting required. + Word processing and computer skills required. + Excellent communication skills required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Associates Degree strongly preferred. + MLT or BA in science field preferred. EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $17.50 - $19.65 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14624 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
