Recreation Therapy Aide
In conjunction with the treatment team, Recreation Therapy aides provides therapeutic recreational and activity-based services to mental health inpatients. Recreation Therapists are responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of the patient’s activities during their stay in the hospital. This includes time when the recreation therapy department is not on the premises, such as evenings, weekends or holidays. Recreation therapist aides provide oversight to programming and delivery of such activities. Recreations therapists conduct individual assessments with each patient and customize activities based on that individual’s interests and capabilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S): + High School Diploma or equivalent. + Possess ability to organize and implement scheduled recreational programs. + Possess creativity, enthusiasm, self-motivation, sensitivity to people’s needs. + Work well in cooperation with others and independently. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: + Implement daily recreational programs as scheduled + Maintain accurate records for department + Communicate effectively and maintain good interpersonal skills + Other duties as assigned + Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to: + Mandatory education + Annual health assessment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: + Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 15 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language. Salary Range: $16.40-21.49 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
