Reporting to the Manager, Recreation and Culture and working in collaboration with the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, implementation and operation of high-quality programming and service delivery within a community hub.
Job Responsibilities:Works in coordination with the Recreation Assistant where applicable, ensuring comprehensive year-round programming for all ages/interests within their facility.Works as a member of the Program Leadership team, ensuring an effective level of consistent high-quality services, including development, implementation, supervision, evaluation and administration in the areas of general programs for all ages, fitness, sports, camps and seniors.Responsible for the maintenance operation of the fitness facility including tracking of repairs and capital infrastructure program; hiring of contractors to complete equipment repair, purchasing of supplies and equipment and overseeing administration of maintenance contracts.Responsible for production, distribution and submission of contracts, TD1 forms, staff correspondence, application forms, uniform requests and change of status.Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as required.Supervision of all part-time programming staff and volunteers including recruitment and selection, scheduling, compensation, performance evaluation, and training.Research market trends and conditions and evaluate community needs to ensure maximization of program and facility usage and revenue and meet the needs of the diverse and changing community.Program integration and support required of special needs participants and one on one support.Administers and monitors HIGH FIVE standards for all children's programs in consultation with the Recreation Coordinator and Program Supervisor.Ensuring that Health, Safety and duty of care legislation/protocols are met for all participants, staff and volunteers.Preparation of initial invoices for accounts receivable and forwards all invoicing to finance department.Provides program content and information to aid in the promotion of programs through marketing and web content.Responsible for Program input into Xplor system.Promotes effective customer service initiatives, and promotions. Provides program and service updates to customer service representatives on a regular basis to ensure accurate and current communication.Acts as liaison to community groups and organizations and foster partnerships to increase facility utilization.Prepares and submits weekly payroll.Use of CIS and FMW systems.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Successful completion of a 2-year college diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or equivalent work experience in the industry. Experience working in the education industry, therapeutic recreation and/or health care setting would also be considered. A Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Proven experience in a related field of work, municipal recreation, therapeutic recreation, education, health care, private or not for profit sports or recreation agencies.Certifications in exercise prescription/personal training from a recognized certifying organization is required (CSEP, CPTN, CanFitPro, YMCA, ECA, ECSM). Greater qualifications may apply. Certification in group exercise and fitness assessments is considered an asset. Maintenance of certification(s) and in good standing through applicable professional development requirements.Experience in Fitness Centre ManagementGood communication skills, interpersonal skills and conflict resolution.Valid certification in Standard First Aid and CPR C/AED.HIGH FIVE certification: Principles of Healthy Child Development, Quest 2, Principles of Healthy Child Development Trainer.Understanding of municipal practices and budgeting processes.Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).Working knowledge of Xplor software would be considered an asset.Strong knowledge of legislation as it relates to the position including Health and Safety, Child Protection Act etc.Ability to work non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends.Please note that successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment.
