JOB SUMMARY\n

The Recreation Center Supervisor leads the multiple operations and staff of the C. K. Ray Recreation Center and one other ancillary site. There is extensive public contact requiring the exercise of judgment, decisiveness, initiative, and discretion. Work involves coordinating and facilitating the Center's activities and events with collaborative partners.\n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n\nBachelor's degree in parks and recreation, business, or related field, or ten years of related progressively responsible supervisory experience.\nCertified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred or ability to obtain within one year of hire.\n\n

Special Requirements:\n\nMembership and active participation in TRAPS, NRPA or other professional organizations preferred.\nExperience in sponsorship solicitation and other funding collaboratives preferred. \nBasic First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain within one month of hire.\nLearn and become proficient in all functions of Active Net within three months of hire.\nPerform duties with the Emergency Operations team during regular workdays and after hours, working a variety of times, days, and locations. \n\n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of principles and methods of organization and leadership of community recreation and education program planning, promotion, implementation, operation, and evaluation.\nKnowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the City of Conroe Parks & Recreation Department.\nAbility to develop new and innovative community programming and be a creative problem solver.\nAbility to train and assign personnel for job tasks and able to give instructions on necessary work procedures and outcomes.\nAbility to motivate a team of staff, complete multiple tasks, detail oriented, and work well under pressure.\nAbility to keep records, express ideas clearly, work independently of direct supervision, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and collaborative partners.\nAbility to use Microsoft Office and become proficient in other job-related software.\n\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is light and requires exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and\/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, and talking.\n
