The Opportunity

The Recreation Aide (Activity Aide) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating recreation therapy programs for residents. Duties will be assigned according to the individual’s education, training, demonstrated skills, AgeCare policies and procedures, and the Collaborative Care Model.


What You Will Do

Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing meaningful resident programs in collaboration with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director.

Maintain accurate department records, including assessments, program evaluations, and resident participation tracking.

Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers, and staff to keep them informed of current and upcoming events.

Participate in in-service education and team meetings to stay current on elder care trends and to plan resident-centered programs.

Facilitate residents’ participation in scheduled outings and assist in assessing individual activity levels.

Prepare, deliver, and evaluate daily recreational activities.

Provide support with meal services as needed.

Work with vulnerable adults, upholding the organization’s values, ethics, and Code of Conduct.

Perform other duties as assigned.


What You Bring

College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.

Previous experience working with seniors.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Energetic and compassionate personality with a genuine interest in working with the elderly.

Valid provincial driver’s license with appropriate class to transport residents by van (e.g., Class 4 or Class F).

Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) within six months, or be willing to obtain one.
