Recovery Support Professional
Salary: $19 / Hour The Recovery and/orPeer Support Specialist is responsible for aiding clients in a variety of waysthat enhance their recovery and promote overall wellness for a successfulrecovery. The Recovery and/or PeerSupport Specialist provides peer support through lived experiences and assistsin navigating the behavioral health system in the process of the client’srecovery. In addition, the Recoveryand/or Peer Support Specialist may assist in activities of daily living andensuring a safe and clean environment. Position Details: + Position: Recovery Support Professional + Facility Type: Addiction Treatment Center + Location: Crownsville, MD 21032 + Shift: Full Time Days, 7a-3p, 40 hours/week, every other weekend required + Hourly Pay: $19/Hour + Start Date: ASAP + Contract Length: 8-13 weeks (opportunity for extension) Job Description: + This individual is capable, under direct supervision, of performing work in the therapeutic care, treatment and rehabilitation of persons within the program. This position does not require, and is restricted from performing group counselling, individual counselling, treatment planning, case management, etc., but does act as a liaison between the clinical staff and the clients. This individual is responsible for providing a positive role model for clients to emulate. + Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, but employees are expected to exercise significant initiative and independent judgement in discharging duties. Work is reviewed by the House Manager Supervisor or Operations Director through an evaluation of the timely and accurate completion of assignments. Essential Duties andResponsibilities: + Screen and process new admissions. Take head counts during hourly runs. Document hourly runs and client movement in communication log. + Screen clients’ personal belongings upon entry to the facility, monitor client movement in and out of the facility, and account for their whereabouts. Maintain and monitor client sign-out book. + Coordinate in-house activities based on the program’s schedule which could include chores, breaks, exercise time, leisure time and visitations. + Maintain accurate daily census, know where clients are on the floor, and report infractions and incidents to appropriate staff. + Conduct client orientation sessions, seminars, and morning meetings as directed. + May need to assist clients traveling to and from medical and/or other appointments; Will NOT be driving clients + Conduct and document room searches and perform random searches of clients as directed by program supervisor. + Deny access to unauthorized persons. + Supervise, where appropriate, clients taking their medications. + Perform regular room checks to make sure clients are on floors or in their rooms per program schedule. + Follow protocol for reporting unauthorized absences. + Monitor urinalysis/drug screening and breathalyzers as instructed by supervisor on duty. + Monitor daily program activities in addition to meals and medication line. + Tour the facility at regular intervals to check building security and ensure there are no fire or safety hazards in accordance with program and regulatory policies. Conduct fire drills and safety checks, including safety and security of the facility, checking fire extinguishers, first aid kits and Narcan availability. + Ensure vehicles are kept clean and complete weekly vehicle inspections. + Ensure facility cleanliness and safety through the regular inspection of sanitation procedures, including pest control, the storage of supplies and clients’ belongings, and submission of work orders for any needed repairs. + Ensure property maintenance related to inclement weather, including shoveling, salting, and de-icing walkways and vehicles, as directed. + Complete written reports, documentation, and electronic incident reports as required. + Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee. Minimum Requirements: + High school diploma or equivalent required + Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) preferred + Minimum of 1 year experience in a related field + Experience in verbal de-escalation, crisis and suicide prevention, and trauma informed care in a related field preferred + Specialized peer support certification preferred (WHAM, ASIST, etc) + Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Next Steps: + For more details on this position, press "apply" and submit your resume.
