Your role and responsibilities

As a Record to Report & General Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for all our R2R and general accounting processes. You will support analysis, projects and process improvement. This role is contributing to the Electrification, Business Area division of ABB Canada and is located in Saint-Laurent.The work model is hybrid.Responsibilities:•\tMonthly closing and reporting: Assist in the month end close process including preparing journal entries, ad hoc account reconciliation, and performing and updating monthly tasks. Execute accounting analyses and reports. Participate in solving IG mismatches and ensuring timely and accurate reporting package and disclosures. •\tInternal Control and External Audit: Participate in responding to external audit requests relating to year-end and quarter-end. Perform monthly controls. Ensure compliance with financial guidelines and company policies. Participate in internal control testing and preparing relevant documentation.•\tProjects: Participate in projects and process improvements initiatives either related to systems, or structure changes. •\tOptimization: Assist in developing and implementing processes and procedures to continuously optimize and gain efficiency.•\tInvestigation: Conduct investigations and reconciliations of accounts as necessary.•\tLead the Record to Report (R2R) processes from an internal control standpoint and ensure compliance to Global Control sets.•\tImplement efficient processes that are supporting business needs while ensuring compliance with Internal Control over Finance Reporting (ICoFR), Group instructions and best practices.•\tCollaborate with auditors for Process Walkthroughs, Management Testing and internal/external audits.•\tAct as the local single-point-of-contact for ABB Global O2C/P2P process owners, Global Business Area internal control leads and Country IC manager•\tCollaborate with businesses and control owners to design solutions for control deficiencies on a timely basis, ensure proper communication and training sessions for implementation, as needed •\tEffectively manage and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.•\tPlan, organize and facilitate process and internal control training sessions with stakeholders •\tSupport Control owners / Control performers and ensure to keep updated operation procedures and flowcharts•\tLiving ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues, and the business.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting (CPA is an asset).Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role.Advanced experience of computerized accounting systems and financial reporting software, including advanced knowledge of EXCEL and SAP (asset).Proven ability to effectively work under pressure and within tight deadlines and high degree of flexibility.Outstanding attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to multitask.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Perfectly Bilingual – French & English. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
