Job Summary
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Receiver is responsible for the management, documentation and organization of receiving, maintenance and/or recording of raw materials and finished goods. This shall include, but is not limited to, the criteria set under duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Receiving:
Receives incoming shipments by unloading from freight truck, verifying shipment against waybill and checking for damage; any damage is documented on the waybill with details along with the driver’s signature acknowledging the damage Verifies goods received in good condition against purchase order and packing slip and then completes the Receiving Log form Receives product into the computer ERP system and delivers all related documents (i.e. Purchase Order, packing slip etc.) to Accounting for processing Warehouses product in their appropriate stock shelf or distributes to proper area as prescribed Completes an NCR (Non-conformance Report) for any product not meeting ISO requirements and forwards NCR to Quality Department Communicates with the Buyer relating to any product that can not be received resulting from inaccurate paperwork of business systems; quarantines product until issue(s) have been resolved Updates Items In Transit Spreadsheet (items shipped in previous month but not received until following month) and distributes to Accounting Department each month Performs weekly cycle counts, researches discrepancies and forwards the results to Accounting Department Closes purchase orders, completes stock cards, identifies material requiring test reports and certificates of compliance etc. Updates ERP system for customer orders being returned for repairs and alterations (RMA)Other:
Act as secondary shipper when volume dictates and provide coverage during time off for shipper Maintains respectful communication with co-workers and supervisory staff Maintains good house keeping measures Familiar with the Company’s ISO Quality Policy and understands the impact of this position on the competitiveness and performance of the company Trained in the requirements of NIJ Standard-0101.06 Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor and to facilitate conformity to the NIJ body Armor Compliance Testing Program specifications Performs other duties as assigned Complies with and follows Health & Safety policies and how they apply to daily dutiesQualifications & Requirements
High school diploma is required 3 to 6 months of related shipping- receiving experience Requires extensive knowledge of shipping and customs/broker paperwork requirements and procedures Strong communication skills are paramount to provide a professional, tactful and discretionary approach in all matters, both internally and externally Completion or ability to complete the Forklift Safety competence training course Good computer skills; MS Office software – MSWord, Excel, ERP Systems Operate material-handling equipment (forklift; pallet truck; dolly) Ability to prioritize duties to accommodate production changes Ability to meet ongoing tight timelines Basic math skills Accuracy is very important Organizational skills lifting, standing, driving and walking constant use of PC, calculators and other office equipmentWork Environment
The dock doors open and close throughout each day impacting the temperature, throughout all seasons Constant noise due to open work area is considered to be moderate Month-end demands may affect the level of stress Some overtime may be requiredStress Environment:
The position will encounter changing priorities and require short notice shipping Volume of shipments differ each day varying from light volume to extreme heavy volume Month end volume may affect the level of stress
