We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Real Estate Finance and Affordable Housing Paralegal to support our legal team in a wide range of commercial real estate and affordable housing transactions. This role is critical in supporting attorneys through all phases of acquisition, financing, and development of multifamily and affordable housing projects, including those involving Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), tax-exempt bond financing, and public/private partnership funding.
Key Responsibilities:Provide paralegal support for real estate finance transactions, particularly those involving affordable housing projects.
Assist with due diligence review, including analysis of title, survey, zoning reports, and environmental assessments.
Draft, organize, and manage transactional documents such as loan agreements, regulatory agreements, deed restrictions, mortgages, promissory notes, assignments, and other closing deliverables.
Order and review UCC, judgment, lien, and litigation searches; prepare and file UCC-1 financing statements.
Coordinate with title companies, lenders, bond counsel, developers, and governmental agencies throughout the closing process.
Prepare closing checklists and manage deadlines to ensure timely and complete closings.
Form legal entities and obtain necessary organizational documents, good standing certificates, and tax ID numbers.
Compile and distribute closing binders and post-closing documentation, and track post-closing obligations.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience as a paralegal in real estate finance and/or affordable housing.
Experience reviewing and summarizing title commitments, surveys, and related exceptions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocs).
Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills with a high attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with attorneys, clients, and external parties.
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
