Are you ready to join Amazon's Risk Assurance team? We are expanding our assurance function focused on risk management and assurance across Amazon's North American operations to include the USA and Canada. We seek professionals from audit and risk backgrounds who can bring their expertise to our unique environment.
As a Risk Assurance Manager supporting Amazon's USA and Canada operations, you'll work within our second line of defense team to deliver comprehensive assurance programs that strengthen our control environment. You'll partner with business leaders to execute risk-based reviews, enhance regulatory compliance, and drive control improvements across our Money Services Business operations in North America and Canada.
Key job responsibilities
• Write, edit, and review internal audit reports for submission to process owners, leadership and management whilst ensuring alignment with team objectives.
• Lead multiple operational and financial assurance reviews to evaluate policy effectiveness, assess internal control environment, and proactively identify process improvements and control enhancements.
• Partner with stakeholders and serve as the catalyst for process improvement activities by providing insight and recommendations based on data analysis and audit findings.
• Assess and evaluate risk assessments of critical processes, evaluate control design and operating effectiveness, and provide recommendations to strengthen the control environment and mitigate identified risks."
• Coordinate with first line teams as well as second line compliance office when managing assurance findings and remediation process.
• Demonstrate analytical excellence through deep-dive investigations and root cause analysis, focusing on process efficiency, operational improvements, and automation opportunities to drive business value.
• Apply specialized knowledge to execute comprehensive assurance reviews within a Money Services Business (MSB) environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Demonstrate strong project management skills with ability to independently manage multiple concurrent workstreams while meeting demanding deadlines.
• Drive continuous improvement of the Risk and Control Services (RCS) assurance function through innovative solutions and commitment to operational excellence.
• Execute comprehensive assurance reviews encompassing process walkthroughs, risk-based control testing, targeted assessments, and full lifecycle management from report issuance through remediation validation
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience within internal or external audit, enterprise risk management (ERM), internal audit, global assurance or AML/CFT compliance
- Working knowledge of the following regulatory and industry requirements and standards: AML/CFT (including Sanctions and PEP Screening, Know Your Customer, Suspicious Activity Monitoring), Data Protection Act and Safe Harbor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Big 4 accounting firm and/or Sarbanes Oxley 404 implementation and testing experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, BSA/OFAC, US Patriot Act, NYDFS 504, PCI DSS,OSFI (Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions), Provincial Securities Regulators (like the OSC - Ontario Securities Commission), Basel III, NIST or COBIT frameworks, FINTRAC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada).
- Relevant work experience in a financial institution, payments institution/money transmitter, audit firm, e-commerce, or operational and risk management environment.
- Experience applying AI/ML solutions in risk and control testing, including proficiency with Python, AWS cloud services (Bedrock, QuickSight), generative AI platforms, and data analytics tools to automate assurance processes and derive meaningful insights from complex datasets
- CPA, CIA, CAMS, JD or other relevant certifications is a plus.
