Job Description:
To be the expert and owner on raw material process and MRA process, contribute to the business growth and targets through a new raw disruptive material pipeline. Also develop expertise in how role of ingredients in our products and ingredients behaviours to act as an ingredient expert in the event of contingencies.
One of the main responsibilities of the Job holder is to ensure business sustainability by identifying present and future raw material and formulation needs in close collaboration with COM, Supply, R&D sites and the Global R&D Teams, and create a raw material development pipeline fulfilling those needs. Although she/he will not lead all the projects included in the development pipeline, the job holder will be responsible for the implementation of the development pipeline thus becoming a Technical Project Portfolio coordinator. Through the creation of project progress tracking tools, the job holder will communicate on project progress and escalate challenges to management as appropriate.
Other main responsibility is the technical expertise regarding raw materials, providing proper risk assessments, and technical guidance to the R&D team and broader areas. Also, the role is about exploiting opportunities for quality improvement and/or cost saving through new raw material development or formulation techniques from MEX perspective. Often the associate is close enough to local business strategies and raw material market understanding to generate ideas by close collaboration/discussion with commercial. Also, influencing and ensuring the compliance of quality standards requirements for formulations compliance.
What are we looking for?
BSc/MSc/PhD in Science, Food Science, Food Technology, Bio-technology
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in research and development and/or technical role in the field of raw materials in a business environment, preferably including 3-year experience in raw material development and/or recipe formulation. Aptitude for leading technical project teams.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Responsible to provide the yearly New Raw Material development process training.
Responsible to provide the yearly MRA development training to MEX.
Responsible for delivering raw material solutions supporting the continuous prime cost improvement, capacity expansion and sustainability projects leveraging the new disruptive raw material innovation to MEX for Dry, Wet and C&T segments.
Responsible for identification and exploration of future raw material opportunity areas for the Dry, WET and C&T products portfolio of MEX Petcare in collaboration with the Commercial team.
Responsible to define and implement the raw material strategy/pipeline (Global and local Project launch) within a 3-year time frame, in collaboration with the Formulation and Commercial including technical project portfolio coordination and leadership of related business projects in MEX Dry, Wet and C&T. Responsible to define the plan and provide continuity until implementation.
Responsible to define and implement the yearly Raw surveillance Program (RSP) for DRY, WET and C&T materials. Responsible to define the plan, share it, and discuss any changes with formulators and PDI’s.
Responsible for continuous improvement “measures” regarding ways of working and systems to ensure nutritional conformity targets of MEX raw materials are consistently met (RSP, Development and implementation within the pipeline timeframe, Action plans developed alongside formulation).
Responsible for continuous improvement in the New Raw Material development process as well to provide training in this matter to Commercial, SQA, Q&F’s and R&D team.
Responsible for the MFSHDS (Material Food Safety Hazard Data Sheet) risk update for MEX in collaboration with R&D, SQA and Q&F’s team.
Responsible for supporting MEX R&D teams on new raw material risks, and relevant standards expertise.
Represent MARS MEX in Global activities related to raw material development.
Responsible for supporting New Raws Contingencies and provide technical insights regarding MARS Mandates (Lipid oxidation, Meat Freshness).
Responsible to provide the yearly mandate training (Lipid oxidation, Meat Freshness).
