Raw Material Scientist

Royal Canin has a global formulation model allowing a unique nutritional profile around the world for the global wet & dry product portfolio, combined with the use of locally available raw materials. A recipe is the synthesis of Royal Canin knowledge in term of science, raw materials, process and nutrition.
The Raw Material scientist has the accountability of Raw material (RM) nutritional precision. This role drives continuous improvement action plans with Commercial (Supplier Quality Assurance) and Laboratories. It also leads continuous improvement of tools and ensures formulation matrix consistency and update. This role is closely connected to associates in the Region America and to Global associates.
What are we looking for?
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in food/feed/nutrition/chemistry or veterinarian (specialized in nutrition).
Minimum 3 years in a R&D role or supplier quality assurance; within a feed or petfood company preferred.
Knowledge of PowerBI and basic statistics
Demonstrated experience in collaboration, learning agility (people, results, mental) and ability to influence and manage tension.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Raws material (RM) precise nutrition:
Define raw material sampling plan for nutritional criteria and systems inputs ; Analyze results for parameters not defined in specification; Propose modification of nutrients matrix to ensure precise formulation
Collaborates with SQA (Supplier Quality Assurance) team
Identify risks and opportunities to modify RM specifications for harmonization, quality improvement, create action plans for specific suppliers and support validations of new RM suppliers
Ensure digital solutions are fit-for-purpose for the Formulation team
Create or maintain PowerBI to generate insights from RM and Finished Products analysis; Key User for Raw Material specification system, ensuring that both RM and Formulation modules data are accurate and updated
Responsible for the interface with Mars Global Services laboratories
Identify and communication issues related to analytical methods
Lead Global Continuous Improvement projects for Raw materials or Formulation
Share regionals specific issues in Global Formulation community to identify common issues; Drive best practice alignment between America and EU/APAC regions, Lead 1-2 global Continuous improvement projects
Support the Formula Portfolio specialist or Global experts' role with specific projects (for instance: Carbon emission impact factors)
