We are seeking an experienced Process Development Chemist to support the rapid growth of Advanced Packaging in Semiconductor Technologies. Our ACP R&D group, within Interconnect Solutions (ICS, E&I Business), delivers innovative materials and formulations to industry-leading semiconductor manufacturing partners worldwide.

The ideal candidate will lead the synthesis, purification, scale-up, and commercialization of specialized raw materials—including small organic molecules and polymer systems. This individual will coordinate effectively with global cross-functional teams, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of technical projects.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

· Lead synthesis, purification, and formulation scale-up from laboratory-scale (100 mL–20 L) to kilo-lab and pilot production.

· Develop robust chemical processes for synthesizing small molecules and polymers suitable for manufacturing scale.

· Collaborate extensively with R&D, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Quality groups to align technical objectives and scale-up plans.

· Evaluate and determine appropriate internal or external manufacturing pathways, providing critical technical support for successful process transfers.

· Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments involving synthesis, purification, filtration, ion exchange, and rigorous analytical characterization.

· Implement statistical process control (SPC) and quality control (QC) measures to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and product reliability.

· Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of essential scale-up principles—including heat transfer, mixing, and reactor design—and their influence on reaction performance, product quality, and safety during the transition from laboratory-scale to kilo-lab and manufacturing settings.

· Demonstrated ability and willingness to rapidly acquire knowledge about product applications, underlying technologies, industry requirements, customer specifications, and performance testing of final formulated products to ensure successful scale-up and commercialization.

Project & Team Leadership:

· Act as a key project leader within the department for scale-up initiatives, clearly defining project scope, deliverables, milestones, and timelines.

· Manage project execution by holding team members accountable, proactively managing risks, and transparently communicating project status to stakeholders.

· Proactively manage workload by clearly identifying priorities, collaborating closely with management to align on prioritization, and adjusting as needed to effectively support broader business objectives.

· Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, continuous learning, and collaboration that encourages innovative solutions and technology development.

· Availability for participation in night and early morning meetings with a global team.

· Coach and mentor junior scientists in project management, data analysis, documentation practices, and professional growth.

Communication & Documentation:

· Clearly document technical results through comprehensive batch records, management-of-change (MOC) documents, and technology-transfer packages.

· Author detailed technical reports, conduct failure mode analyses, create control plans, and proactively participate in reactive chemical process hazard analysis (PHA).

· Effectively present complex scientific data and project updates to technical teams, senior management, and business leadership to influence strategic decisions.

· Pursue opportunities for external publication and technical conference presentations.

· Identify opportunities to secure intellectual property through trade secrets or patents; actively contribute to patent filings and IP landscape awareness.

Qualifications:

Required:

· Ph.D. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or closely related discipline.

· Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience focused on synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical process scale-up, and optimization.

· Demonstrated expertise in analytical characterization techniques including GPC, NMR, LC/MS, HPLC, FTIR, and related methods.

· Strong expertise in statistical data analysis and process improvement methodologies (JMP, Minitab, SPC, Design of Experiments).

· Proven track record of successfully managing complex chemical scale-up projects through Phase/Gate or Stage/Gate processes.

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.

· Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (
