Job Description Summary
Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. Our fleet has grown to include more than 30,5000 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 28 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food market.

We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable Rail Car Mechanic. This position reports to the Supervisor – Nanticoke, and services our Customer in Nanticoke, Ontario based out of our Waterford, Ontario location. This opportunity is perfect for an experienced individual looking for an opportunity in an organization that offers advancement.

Job Summary:

Principal duties in this position are including but not limited to:

Car repairs involving cutting and welding (SMAW) on the safety appliances.Preparing and maintaining documentation for completion of rail car repairs in compliance with regulatory standardsPerform necessary repairs to Hopper, Tank railcars and their components, light and medium-duty mechanical repairs, wheel pair, truck components, coupler components servicing, changing out loading valves, airbrake testing, rail car bubble leak testing, etc.Inbound rail car inspections as requiredRead, comprehend, and follow repair orders and proceduresOther related duties as assigned

The normal work schedule for this role is forty (40) hours per week; however, this schedule may change as business requirements dictate.

Requirements:

Welding experience (SMAW)Strong written and oral communication skillsStrong mechanical background with competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipmentMust be able to read and understand written work orders, material safety data sheets, complete work write-ups, and other paper and computer workPrior railcar repair experience or similar, and knowledge of AAR standards an assetPerform and document quality control checks as required by Company and regulatory quality standardsAdhere to both customer site and Procor’s health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe mannerMust be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noiseThe ability to work while wearing respiratory protectionWHMIS training, experience dealing with hazardous commoditiesMust be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools.Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions where there are loud noises and fumesConfined space entry (If required)Detail-oriented and committed to qualityExcellent time management skillsThe ability to work independently or within a teamDemonstrate a strong initiative and a positive proactive approach at all timesValid driver’s license required and reliable transportation to get to and from work

Pay: Between $25.12 - $39.78 per hour depending on qualifications
