Gibbs Health Center in Poplar, Montana. This is a full-time, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day position. We actively strive to channel our highly engaged employee’s knowledge, critical thinking, innovative solutions for our clients. **Responsibilities** + Produces ionizing radiation within a safe permissible range so as to achieve a radiograph of diagnostic quality. + Employs the use of positioning aids, tube and table angulations, collimation, various shielding devices, and adjusts equipment technical factors according to particular body habits and physical condition so said radiographs are achieved. + Determines when deviation from standard techniques and procedures are necessary to achieve desired results. + Routine exams performed are skull, facial, sinuses, mastoid, spine, trunk, abdomen, chest, and extremities. + Prepares the radiology room and independently performs procedures such as oral cholangeograms and IV pyleograms + Assures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, anaphylaxis trays and other required equipment are present and laid out. + Monitors and observes patient conditions and keeps medical provider advised of patient status. + Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves for disease diagnosis and obstetrical care. + Exams to include abdominal, renal, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, thyroid, pelvic, and obstetric studies for gestation number, age, anomalies, and general fetal status. + Determines number of scans and adjusts the equipment parameters to produce and record anatomy of normal and pathologic processes for review by the health provider and contract radiologist. + Notifies attending practitioners of significant scan information requiring his/her immediate attention or visualization. + Receives patients into the department and explains the method of procedures necessary for the exam in accordance with the brief history annotated by the provider. + Schedules routine exams to accommodate patient needs and medical status and delivers immediate care to emergency patients. + Gives assurance and support to patients and their families during the procedures with extra care and consideration when dealing with an apprehensive and/or pediatric patient. + Provides and assures protection from ionizing radiation to patients, staff, and other persons according to established guidelines. Is aware of and attends to the safety of the patient in the department. + Provides tutorial experience and instruction to teach back up responsibilities to clinical assistants and other technicians. + Provides for the operation and functioning of the Radiology Department and its ability to work with other clinic entities to deliver expedient and quality patient care. + As directed by Supervisor on own initiative, makes studies for the more efficient and effective use of Radiology Services, to implement or change operational methods and procedures and investigate and resolve problems reported by clinic staff. + Institutes quality care and quality assurance procedures in the department, composing manuals, and protocol to achieve desired results. Compiles the necessary information and makes appropriate reports. Prepares processing chemicals and stocks and adequate level of supplies within the department for smooth operating. + Assures that equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and repaired. Monitors areas to insure they are kept in a neat, clean, and orderly manner and that swage environment is present. Performs standard maintenance and monitoring checks of equipment and is aware of and deals with problems needing the attention of service personnel in order that minimum down time is incurred within the department. + Organizes various department records, logs, film, files and reports. Submits Monthly, quarterly, and yearly data to necessary departments and offices within the clinic and area office. + Develops and updates interesting case files to provide educational training to fellow employees, visiting practitioners and community members. + Keeps abreast of new developments and trends in the fields of radiology and sonography by reviewing current literature, viewing demonstrations of new equipment and procedures and attending educational meetings and training programs in as much as are pertinent to the facility. + Reviews and evaluates work for quality and recognizes and corrects errors with little or no supervision on his/her routine work, Discusses problems with the Clinical Director. + Other duties as assigned **Qualifications** + Radiology Technologist shall have thirty-six (36) months of radiology experience, unless otherwise approved. + Possess a degree or diploma from a professional radiology program approved by the legally designated state accrediting agency at the time of the program was completed by the applicant. + Possess current Basic Life Support (BLS). + Possess a current, valid, unrestricted license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
