This role ensures that equipment used in radiological safety, emergency response, and monitoring remains accurate and compliant with regulatory standards. Human Resource Contact: Nicki Reitmeyer 307-777-6219 nicki.reitmeyer@wyo.gov ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level. + Calibrating radiation detection equipment includes dosimeters and survey meters. + Maintain accurate records of calibration results, certifications, and maintenance logs. + Identify equipment that is out of specifications and recommend service. + Coordinate with partners to schedule calibrations with minimal disruptions to their operations. + Track the inventory of all radiological equipment owned by the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security and monitor the calibration status of each item. + Maintain calibration lab equipment and perform required testing of the lab itself. + Provide basic user training in all equipment when needed. + Assist with Preventative Radiological and Nuclear Detection (PRND) Missions. To include maintaining readiness, transporting, deploying, monitoring, and demobilizing equipment. + Assist with transporting, deploying, and demobilization equipment, as needed, during emergency responses. Qualifications PREFERENCES: FEMA courses. ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 National Incident Management System (NIMS) for Resource Management and Incident Command Operations training. KNOWLEDGE: + Working knowledge of Federal and State radiological rules and guidelines. + Working knowledge or training in radiation safety, including handling of sealed sources and radioactive materials per OSHA and NRC guidelines. + Experience in the use of diagnostic tools. + Understanding of radiation detection principles. + Working knowledge of the National Incident Management (NIMS) and knowledge of general government processes at all levels. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience in firefighter, hazardous materials specialist, radiological technician or radiation worker. OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-5 years of progressive work experience in firefighter, hazardous materials specialist, radiological technician or radiation worker. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: + Working in a controlled indoor radiological calibration lab (standing, sitting). + Work involves regular handling or proximity to sealed radioactive sources. + Safety measures are in place to minimize exposures, and dosimeters are worn daily. + May be required to lift equipment over 25 pounds. NOTES: + FLSA: Non-Exempt + This is a part-time position. + Successful applicants for employment must pass a limited criminal background investigation. + Additional certifications and/or licenses may be required by the agency.
