Radiation Therapist - Radiation Oncology - Day

Full Time, Day Shift (80 hours biweekly)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm (Hours may vary based on patient volume and staffing needs)
Rotation: Rotating weekend on call required

General Summary

Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to Wellspan Oncology Servile Line established standards and practices. Performs CT-simulation procedures and/or other treatments/procedures requiring specialized skills/training at an advanced skill level.

Essential Functions:

Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients; obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedure. Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc. Prepares room and equipment for patient. Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, nurses, dietician, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects. Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events. Performs IGRT procedures for tumor localization. Prepares patient and equipment for, and performs simulation procedures.

Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Completes annual required LMS training as assigned. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Maintains current ARRT certification. Maintains appropriate documentation in the EHR as required by the profession and Wellspan Oncology Service Line. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Supervises, assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting. Aids in the training of radiation therapy students.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Associates Degree Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program. Required or Associates Degree Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program. Required

Work Experience:

3 years Relevant experience. Required

Licenses:

Registered Technologist-Radiation Therapy - ARRT within 180 days Required and Basic Life Support within 180 days Required

Courses and Training:

Appropriate training in radiation therapy. Upon Hire Required and Appropriate specialized training. Upon Hire Required
