Job Description

Job Summary 

The Lithotripsy Technologist operates the lithotripter under the treating physician's supervision. Anticipates the move of the urologists and assists in safe and efficient completion of the lithotripsy procedure with complete knowledge of the operative functions of the unit. 

Essential Functions

Assists physicians in positioning patients, visualizing stones and getting KUB (kidney, urine, bladder), if required. Recognize and resolve problems while working with the lithotripter unit. Collects statistical data for use by management and quality assurance committee. Prioritizes and reorganizes workload in response to STAT requests. Assists with patient transfer as needed. Responsible for the upkeep of the equipment and supplies in order to perform procedures in an efficient and aesthetic manner. Routes charts and records to appropriate areas, assuring confidentiality as required. Actively participates in the overall performance improvement process stated in the Quality Assurance Plan. Responsible for patient care procedures that relate directly to lithotripsy. Effectively operates of the Lithotripter and standard patient positioning. Regularly performs Quality control checks. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Associate Degree graduate of an accredited program in Radiology Technology. required 1-3 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist required 1-3 years experience performing urological procedures as a Radiologic Technologist preferred

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals and external vendors Ability to operate and understand radiographic technology and equipment/applications Basic computer skills Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional behaviors at all times Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy and comply with all HIPPA requirements Ability to use initiative and independent judgment Knowledge of radiation safety and protection procedures

Licenses and Certifications

ARRT Radiography Certification required Licensed Radiologic Technologist As required by state required BCLS - Basic Life Support required CRLS - Certified Renal Lithotripsy Specialist through American Lithotripsy Society preferred
