This Position reports to:
R&D Unit Lead
We are looking for a R&D Senior Engineer, Mechanical at ABB Oy, IEC LV Motors in Vaasa, Finland. In this role, you will be responsible for executing mechanical design activities in new product development (NPI) or product maintenance for Low Voltage Electrical Motors. With us you will gain a challenging role in the global R&D organization, where you have good opportunities to grow as a specialist by working for one of the leading Low Voltage Electrical Motor manufacturers. As a senior team member, you will also be acting as a mentor by training junior team members and compiling project lessons learned
The work model for the role is: #LI-hybrid with an average minimum of 2 days a week in the Vaasa office.

You will be mainly accountable for:
Maintaining and keeping products up to date during the product lifecycle, including technical documentation, design and testing according to project requirements
Ensuring cost efficient design in accordance with project specifications, related standards, and safety regulations
Collaborating actively with Project Managers, Project Team Members, Global R&D Teams, other functions, and stakeholders in the organization
Keeping up to date with relevant technologies, tools and methods and implementing initiatives to improve operations and customer satisfaction
Qualifications for the role:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Several years of experience in mechanical design and 3D design tools as well as manufacturing methods e.g. casting, machining, sheet-metal and welding
Self-driven personality with good teamwork and communication skills
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
An analytical and logical mindset with good problem-solving skills.
Experience of Creo or NX 3D design tools and Teamcenter or PTC Windchill PLM/PDM are considered as a benefit
Previous experience with electrical motors or specifically ABB IEC LV Motors and related products is seen as a benefit
