R&D Mechanical Design Engineer

**WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:**
+ Provide technical leadership to multi-functional teams by ensuring that market specifications are met from design to prototype to production. This will cover both branded platform products and products engineered for specific customer applications.
+ Collaborate with internal and external partners (customers and industry leaders) to deliver innovative thermal solutions for Air and Liquid Cooling products.
+ Design and Develop products through tollgate process to launch in a timely manner.
+ Coordinate with Project and/or Program Manager to prepare and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion.
+ Collaborate with engineers and designers (Mechanical and other cross functional) on complete product and solution design activities.
+ Oversee external activities such as regulatory or other third-party testing.
+ Apply technological expertise to specific project needs.
+ Collaborate with Architect and Product Management team to assist in the development of product architecture and product requirement document (PRD)
+ Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to support simulation and analysis of thermal and fluid flow performance, contributing to design optimization.
+ Help drive technical documentation around standard design practices to establish processes to reduce product development cycle time.
+ Stay informed on emerging trends in thermal management and data center cooling to identify opportunities for innovation and product differentiation.
**YOU HAVE:**
+ BS in engineering required.
+ Ideally 5+ years of related engineering experience
+ 2+ years of technical lead experience in Thermal and Hydarulics domain.
+ Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office 360 tools, including Sharepoint, Teams, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
+ Ability to provide work direction to work teams to improve efficiency, effectiveness and collaboration
+ Establish a team environment with open communication, identifying problems and establishing resolutions
+ Promote the sharing of knowledge to strengthen technical depth of staff, ensure adaptable operational support, and enable process improvements
+ Approximately 10% of domestic travel with the potential for international travel is required
+ Familiarity with CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or similar) and thermal system design is a plus
+ Experience with liquid cooling systems, heat exchangers, or refrigerant-based technologies is desirable
YOU HAVE:
• Two year technical degree preferably in drafting or design
• Ideally 5+ years of mechanical experience in drafting/design
• Experience using SolidWorks a must
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical design drafting practices
• Capable of performing basic design calculations (example: tolerance stacks, press fits, etc.)
• Thorough knowledge of sheet metal design
• Strong knowledge in use and application of GD&T
• Ability to independently generate complex designs and assemblies
• Proficiency in mechanical, electrical or refrigeration for designing, assisting and directing the build of components and assemblies
• Knowledge in relative manufacturing processes, including brazing/welding of copper, stainless steel
• Experience with ENOVIA PLM system a bonus
• JD Edwards experience an asset
• Knowledge of brazing/welding of copper, stainless steel a plus
• Knowledge of tubing and manifold designs for fluids a bonus
• Knowledge of plastic part design beneficial

**Pay Transparency**
nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
**Compensation Range:**
$105,000.00 - $195,000.00
Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
