A challenging opportunity\nis now available for an R&D Scientist/Engineer II in the Manufacturing and\nProduct Technology (MPT) group of UOP R&D. The MPT group is accountable for\nthe development of catalyst and adsorbent products from prototype to commercial\nproduction. MPT also provides technical support to UOP Integrated Supply\nChain. This role is located in Des\nPlaines, IL. This Scientist/Engineer II will be responsible for a broad range\nof projects related to catalyst development, production support and scale-up.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and conduct experiments to develop new catalyst products for petrochemicals, sustainable fuels, and traditional refining to improve energy utilization and maximize yield for our worldwide customer base.Develop expertise in key manufacturing technologies including but not limited to zeolite synthesis, catalyst forming, metals deposition and heat treatment.Complete hands-on laboratory bench scale and larger scale experimental work and indirectly supervise laboratory technicians on carrying out required experimental plans.Demonstrate fundamental understanding of catalyst science and how catalyst properties relate to performance.Interface with other UOP departments including other divisions of Research and Development, Pilot Plant Group, Analytical and Advanced Characterization, Business, and Catalyst Manufacturing Plants to ensure robust products for our customers.Participate in all departmental safety activities and conduct all work with a high degree of attention to safety.Utilize six-sigma tools as necessary to implement project work.The\nannual base salary range for this position is $86,400-$108,000.
