Job Title: R&D Engineering Technician
Job Description

The R&D Engineering Technician will work with a variety of technologies to support New Product and Process Development engineers in a medical device environment. The individual will be responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe operation of several large pieces of specialty equipment, including laser cutting equipment, coating application, electroplating, and laboratory measurement tools. This person will be responsible for helping solve complex manufacturing challenges, ensuring high-quality outcomes, and keeping customer projects on schedule.

ResponsibilitiesSupport engineers with technical tasks as needed.Follow verbal and written instructions for preparing medical device components for different processes.Prioritize and manage multiple projects and responsibilities, and communicate those priorities to different stakeholders.Program laser patterns to achieve required position and tolerances.Provide laser ablated samples to engineering for sales efforts.Apply coatings to medical devices.Clean and organize work areas.Assist engineering in designing tooling for production.Interface with quality personnel to develop inspection procedures to verify the acceptability of components.Effectively resolve problems as they arise and seek assistance in a timely manner.Support engineers on time-sensitive projects and assist with issues that would prevent meeting delivery deadlines.Help conduct process qualification runs (OQ & PQ).Help maintain quality, process control, corrective actions, cleanliness, and safety.Essential SkillsEngineering and troubleshooting skills.Minimum requirement of a High School diploma or equivalent.Two-year technical degree or comparable experience preferred.Experience with laser cutting and support validation processes.Use of optical microscope.Chemical process experience or at least chemical safety knowledge.Strong communication skills for executing engineering tasks once defined by the engineering team.Additional Skills & QualificationsDesire to stay at the same job for a long time due to extensive training on processes.Capability to grow within the role.Work Environment

The position requires working 70-75% of the time in a lab or production environment. The current facility is located in southern Anoka, but the team is moving to a new building in northern Anoka at the end of August. The role is onsite.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
