What you would do as our R&D Engineer
You would be part of the embedded software development team responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and testing embedded and firmware software for our ABLOY OS product (Electronic Access Control – EAC). In this role, you would lead the team’s development and testing activities in close collaboration with other team members, the Product Owner, and key stakeholders.
You would also:
Help product management to build development roadmaps and plans and to follow them. Participate actively in diverse product development projects within domestic and international organizations. Act as a scrum master on your turn (rotating role) and facilitate some meetings with the development team. Join weekly architecture group meetings.
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who has:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in embedded programming, software engineering, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in Linux, C/C++, shell scripting, and embedded software development, including microcontroller architectures, development tools, and CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins and GitLab CI, along with a basic knowledge of electronics. Foundational knowledge of electronics and a solid understanding of agile development methodologies, including Scrum and SAFe. Fluent in written and spoken English, with basic proficiency in Finnish, with strong interpersonal and collaborative capabilities. Proven ability to lead technical development efforts, mentor team members, and proactively contribute to problem-solving and continuous professional growth.Ideally, you have a personal interest in embedded Linux software development, demonstrated through hobby projects such as working with Raspberry Pi. You possess experience with Python and the Robot Framework for automated testing. Additionally, you are proficient in using debugging and analysis tools such as debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
