Hexcel is currently seeking a R&D Composite Lab Technician for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Autonomously performing technical work to support engineers developing the next generation of advanced materials for the aerospace and space and defense marketsWork in a state-of-the-art laboratory with research and development equipment in an industrial settingSet up equipment and perform testing or analysis, following standard test procedures to assure safe practice and valid results.Layup and cure composite laminate panelsCollect data utilizing various measurement devices such as balances, scales, calipers, and universal test machines.Perform calculations as necessary, prepare reports of test data and results in accordance with specified procedures.Maintaining departmental files, logs, and records of past experiments and/or tests for future references.Maintaining a clean, safe working environment, ensuring lab equipment are in acceptable order.

Qualifications:

High School Degree or equivalentCollege or post-high school training preferred; candidates with an associates/undergraduate degree and or experience with composites, fiber, honeycomb, plastics, and ceramics test techniques and material properties is desirable, especially for aerospace applicationsAbility to understand engineering requirements, safety requirements, standard operating procedures, and maintenance instructionsBasic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, etc.) are required.Experience with MS Office, especially basic functions in Microsoft ExcelDemonstrated mechanical aptitude strongly preferred
