Responsibilities Working on the Defense critical technology areas offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment at the forefront of advancing national defense capabilities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Directed Energy, Hypersonics, and more. As part of a collaborative team of technical experts, you will directly support the development and maintenance of modernization technology roadmaps and strategic documents, ensuring alignment with DoD goals. Your role will involve close interaction with senior DoD leaders and stakeholders across the S&T community. You will have the opportunity to support independent technical assessments, provide expert analysis of emerging technologies, and contribute to decision-making processes impacting the Department’s most critical modernization efforts. This project requires a high level of professionalism, technical expertise, and a commitment to shaping the future of national security capabilities. As a subject matter expert for Quantum Science, you will have the opportunity to do the following:Support the office of the Principal Director (PD) for Quantum Science within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering as a subject matter expertAdvise the Principal Director on the strategic direction for the Quantum technology portfolio and develop relevant productsDevelop a technology roadmap to outline future Quantum developments for DoD in consultation with the PD and develop relevant productsAssist in outreach to the S&T community to enable Quantum technology development including other U.S. Government, industry, academia, and international partnersAnalyze and track Quantum programs across DoD; assist in technical evaluation of programs; assist in development of requirementsAssist with and prepare presentations, reports, and other business products as directed by the PD Qualifications Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility within the last 24 monthsU.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and 20 years of applicable experience Pay Transparency Statement AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $186,800.00/Yr. - USD $311,900.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
