My client, a reputable consulting firm, is looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor (QS) with mining experience for a permanent position. The role will initially be based on-site in Richards Bay for 18-24 months, followed by a relocation to Johannesburg.

 

Main job function

Consulting with clients to understand their needs and project requirements. Conducting feasibility studies and preparing early-stage cost plans. Analyzing costs for materials, labour, and other resources. Preparing tender documents and bills of quantities. Evaluating and valuing completed work for payment purposes. Negotiating with contractors and subcontractors. Advising on contractual claims and disputes. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and building codes. Preparing progress reports and updating project budgets. Performing risk, value management, and cost control. Advising on legal, contractual, and commercial issues. Allocating work to subcontractors. Providing advice on contractual claims. Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or similar field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the consulting industry. Must have worked on mining projects. Proficient in MS Office Suite and quantity surveying software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Must be willing to travel to project sites as required.

 

Salary

R40 000Per month
