What is the opportunity ?

The Electronic Market Making group, a high-frequency trading team at RBC Capital markets, is seeking Quantitative Researchers and Traders to join our desk.

The nature of finance is changing, and RBC Capital Markets is looking to recruit the next generation of Quantitative Researcher to drive innovation in equity trading.  Leveraging sophisticated statistical techniques and machine learning, in combination with software engineering and trading, Quantitative Researchers are responsible for conceptualizing and building sophisticated trading signals and strategies.  If solving complex problems in a fast-paced and exciting environment with a group of passionate and like-minded individuals appeals to you, the Electronic Market Making group is looking for you.

What will you do?

Research, backtest, and implement quantitative signals and trading strategies

Drive innovation through original ideas

Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to expand existing algorithms

Automation, optimization and re-engineering of desk processes and tools to increase efficiency

Analyze market data and trends to investigate previously unexplored structural research areas

Think critically and creatively within a collaborative and close-knit team working on Canada's largest trading floor

What you need to succeed?

Passion for quantitative research, software engineering and mathematics

Extensive object oriented programming experience (Java/Python/C++)

Strong background in mathematics, statistics and machine learning

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Bachelor/Master/PhD degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics or related field

2 - 5 years of relevant experience within Capital Markets domain
