YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

Executes the population and quantitative genetics technical strategy to design improved cohorts of germplasm that are aligned with;Product Concept targets from initial crossing through the handoff to Product Development;Supports quantitative genetics projects on implementation of Precision Breeding technical innovations in Product Design;Contributes strong technical expertise in quantitative genetics research projects for breeding program design and optimization, breeding goal definition, optimization of automated crossing processes, genetic evaluation, and optimization of data acquisition for Product Design;Identifies key areas of opportunity for new technology implementation and/or process improvement, while positively contributing to a collaborative, innovative, and design-centric culture;Supports the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture in the site.

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Currently enrolled in a PhD Plant Science, Animal Science, Data Science or a related program with some experience in developing population and quantitative genetics methods for routine use in breeding programs;Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross- functional teams without direct reporting relationships;Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities; facilitates solutions;Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;Demonstrated: (i) ability to perform data analysis with large biological datasets is a plus; and (ii) coding experience in R, C,Fortran, Python or similar software and languages;Experience in coding, delivering and utilizing models, algorithms and systems for at least one of the following areas: (i) breeding program design and optimization; (ii) breeding goal definition; (iii) optimization of automated crossing processes; (iv) genetic evaluation; and (vi) optimization of data acquisition at scale in plant or animal breeding programs;Strong understanding of the genomic control of physiological and biochemical pathways in plants or animals and how to define genome/trait associations

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $46.30. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
