Quality Technician
Job Description and Position Summary:
The Quality Technician’s role:
• Responsible for executing all components of the company’s quality system.
• Follows testing and inspection strategies to proactively minimize manufacturing problems.
• Correct problems that occur for new and existing production whose attributes are dimensional and/or mechanical in nature.
• Ensures compliance with the quality system and other standards and regulations, customer specifications, company quality requirements, and corporate objectives.
• Support production management.
• Support administrative management; seeing jobs through to shipment.
• Responsible for group training on all issues, and on-the-job training for quality concerns.
• This is a hands-on position involved in care and control of data, creating documentation, overseeing calibration, and participating in supplier qualification.
• Responsible for creating, tracking, and closing out all non-conformance issues.
The overall goal of this job is to reduce all sources of non-conforming material, from procurement through to shipped product. The position reports to the General Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee and/or perform daily “hot” inspections to ensure product quality is appropriate early in the production process.
• Monitor, support, and input data into the production management database (Job Boss). Run reports and provide feedback on production and general management on areas of concern.
• Determine appropriate tests, inspections and validations to ensure components and products meet specification requirements.
• Perform, supervise, and requisition dimensional inspections of parts to ensure customer requirements are met. Ensure reports accurately state part conditions. Develop waivers or tool rework recommendations to production and potentially the customer.
• Input and approval for process verification and inspection of new jobs and tooling/process changes to ensure product quality and integrity.
• Quality reporting: tracking; compiling; and reporting quality metrics.
• Input and approval for internal and supplier manufacturing equipment/processes/systems to ensure process capability and product/process quality; direct responsibility of the same for quality department equipment/processes/systems, including quality department items developed for use by suppliers.
• Supplier qualification and approval, including related controls stated above.
• Root cause analysis, problem solving, continuous improvement and related corrective and preventive action as they relate to complaints, non-conforming material, post-market surveillance, and other quality data.
• Develop and manufacture/procure test equipment and inspection systems (tooling, fixtures, gaging, instruments, equipment, software, etc.), including appropriate calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Disposition of non-conforming material.
• Input to, and development of, specifications, standards, test protocols, test reports, procedures and other documentation and records related to the above-listed responsibilities.
• Maintain quality system compliance in above-listed areas.
Maintain an “audit-ready” status for AS9100D, ISO 9000, and Nadcap certifications. May support or act as the lead for renewal and surveillance audits.
• Review specifications to ensure appropriate designation, specification, dimensioning and tolerance callouts, as they relate to inspect-ability.
• Maintain awareness of job cost, quality, scope, and schedule, to ensure on time delivery of the job within budget.
• Support Management by making them aware of all current or potential problems with jobs and assist in assuring that customer commitments are met.
• Support job bids by performing a time and materials analysis of all aspects of the potential job and report to management for approval.
• Participate in proposals, review customer statements of work, and support the sales department as needed.
• Communicate with current and potential customers to address needs and concerns as appropriate.
• Crosstrain to fill in for sickness and absences as may occur from time to time.
• Joint responsibility with Production Manager to identify safety and environmental issues and manage accordingly. Support good health and safety practices.
• Maintain the confidentiality of information as it may apply to employees, management, customers, vendors, and others.
• May be assigned, or reassigned, duties and responsibilities to support other facets of the company’s business.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Second to Production Manager for all production employees and second to General Manager for all administrative employees.
• In all matters of quality, able to train and direct employees to meet the Company’s quality objectives.

**Pay Details:** $24.00 per hour
