Job Summary: The Quality Technician position involves sampling, measuring and verifying that manufactured products meet pre-determined quality standards.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

Safety adherence; to include all forklift safety policiesPreventative Maintenance Schedule AdherenceAbility to handle parts without damaging people, parts or propertyTimely and accurate record keeping

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Generate loading map and chartsLoad and light-up forge furnaces (box and rotary)Measure the temperature of forged parts using an Infrared Optical PyrometerMeasure hot and cold forged parts and document dimensionsImplement fixed process requirements, such as cooling method, temperature deviation and wall reductionWork with shop orders and specific customersMonitor minimum and max soak times temperatures on the goldsUnderstand the basic forging language (back extrusion, edging, forming, etc.), and call out dimensions on goldUnderstanding load, reheats, transfers, and record measurements of hot and cold forged partsMaintain Lot traceability (Serial Number)Operate optical gun & aluminum handheld, hourly temperature measurement of forged parts with Infrared Optical PyrometerData entry using Oracle Software (Write-up)Verify tooling number before and temperature before forging partsForklift training and safely operate mobile equipment (plus perform forklift checkup), and Safely gas up manipulatorMove product between processes, load & unload materialInteract with manufacturing staff and Meets Production Goals (Cycle Times, Out Put Log etc.)Setting up Wyman Gordon & Nuclear packages (Furnace charts, loading maps, write-up (Metallurgist report)Start up and properly shut down all furnaces, assist co-workers and Metrology with furnace issuesReplacing spur plug, wire, and cleaning Fireye scannerProgramming parameter of UDC2500 & UDC3200Adjust for initial-start up (New furnace)Furnace burner adjustments and understand furnace primary partsUnderstanding of Fireye flame safety system and maxon gas valvesUpdate QA documentation due to schedule changes and flow down information to; Lead, Process Control & BlacksmithPerforms other duties as assigned.

Required education / experience:

High school / GED or Technical College degree 0-2 years experience in forge industry a plus (level 1)3+ years’ experience for level 2Experience in forge industry is highly preferred but not required
