Quality Technician

Description

The Quality Technician role is key to the quality department and the production floor. It covers several areas of inspection responsibility throughout the facility. This position is a critical link between production floor associates and engineering specifications and requirements. The person in this role will ensure that quality standards and associated procedures are met and take appropriate action when necessary to meet agreed deadlines, quality performance, and production targets. The role also includes cross-training across the department and assisting when there is a bottleneck in an inspection area, covering vacation time, or managing absences. You will be responsible for supporting team cohesion within the department and the plant and leading by example.

Qualifications and Competences

High school diploma or equivalent or qualifying experience, ASQ CQT CMI certification is a plus.2 to 3 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating increased responsibility.Training and experience with Microsoft Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge the First Article Inspection (FAI) process, PPAP, and quality planning tools (including GD&T, SPC, GR&R, Cpk, First Piece Inspection, and Cost of Quality).Understanding and knowledge of manufacturing industry compliance standards, including ISO 9001 quality systems.Experience operating Hexagon and/or Zeiss CMMs and using PC-Dmis software. CMM programming is a plus.Experience with various SAP transactions, such as Incoming Inspection release and final product.Basic knowledge of Programmable Numerical Control (CNC) processes, lathes, milling machines, plastic injection molding, etc.Strong application knowledge of calibration and metrology systems, including the development, improvement, and approval of measurement methodologies and design.Working knowledge with engineering part drawings and a general understanding of metallurgy.Development, implementation, and maintenance of procedures, work instructions, and related forms that support the quality system.Provide leadership, technical support, and guidance to certified operators, manufacturing, and other areas requiring assistance on all inspection-related issues.Collaborate with the cross-functional team in the investigation and resolution of quality issues.Document and report the results of quality system audits.Create quality alerts and communicate internal and external complaints to operational staff.Effective communicator; strong written and verbal communication skills.
