Quality Supervisor
The Quality Supervisor oversees the quality assurance team's day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. This role ensures that aluminum and magnesium components meet quality expectations throughout all manufacturing stages, from raw material to final inspection.
Performance Expectations
Supervise and coordinate quality technicians and inspectors across multiple shifts. Oversee daily inspection and testing activities, ensuring adherence to dimensional, visual, and metallurgical standards. Implement and maintain quality control systems to meet IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards. Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCA/CAPA) for internal nonconformities and customer complaints. Support APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) activities. Manage internal audits and support external and customer audits. Analyze and report quality KPIs, trends, and process capability data (Cp, Cpk). Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance to resolve quality-related issues. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations related to aluminum and magnesium processing. Train and mentor quality team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in a quality role within automotive manufacturing; at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity preferred. Experience with light metal casting, machining, or finishing processes (aluminum/magnesium) is highly desirable. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)Desired Characteristics
Strong knowledge of automotive quality systems and core tools (IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA). Proficient in interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and material specifications. Effective leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Skilled in root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams. Familiarity with CMMs, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
