Job Description
The Quality Scientist will focus on microbiological testing on seasonings and spices, both in-process and finished, to ensure products are in compliance with standards and specifications. Some of the microbiological testing methods include media preparation, total coliforms, yeast and mold count, as well as total plate count. The Quality Scientist will be responsible for maintaining standards in GMPs, GLPs, and Food Safety.
ResponsibilitiesConduct microbiological testing on seasonings and spices, both in-process and finished products.Prepare media and perform total coliforms, yeast and mold counts, and total plate counts.Ensure compliance with GMPs, GLPs, and Food Safety standards.Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and procedures.Identify and address quality issues proactively.Essential SkillsExpertise in microbiology and laboratory techniques.Proficiency in aseptic techniques and plating.Familiarity with GLP, GMP, biology, chemistry, and assay procedures.Quality control experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma required.Associate or Bachelor's degree highly preferred.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to assertively address issues when identified.Work Environment
The position primarily involves working in a laboratory setting. Occasionally, you will need to enter a manufacturing environment that may be loud and dusty, with strong odors. There is potential for movement between six facilities across the country.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
