Job PurposeMaintain a safe working environment, following all safety rules and procedures. Ensures in process and finished product meets specifications; and recommends and implements corrective actions when necessary.
Key Responsibilities Ensures that pre-ships, COA’s, customer complaints, and inquiries from the field are handled in an accurate and timely manner. Evaluates test results and other pertinent data versus specification and initiates corrective actions when needed. Performs duties of Quality Manager in his/her absence. Assists with the investigation of customer complaints. Promotes the current quality system through adhering to the elements and ensuring that all group members are thoroughly familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, quality principles and are trained in the appropriate procedures. Promotes the ALPS philosophy throughout the organization through setting a positive example as well as mentoring the group members and positive participation in cross functional planning and problem- solving activities. Attend and participate in Powder Plant Programs/Committees/Training as required, such as Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioral Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, ISO, IATF, Life Saving Rules or any other safety programs. Participate in the Powder Safety Journey. Adhere to the Golden Principle which is Simply to intervene to stop work if conditions or behavior are unsafe. Performs additional responsibilities as required for the success of AkzoNobel. Job Requirements B.S. in Chemistry or related field or five years Powder or Liquid Coatings experience in laboratory. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Training in quality systems including ISO 9001, ISO14001 and IATF 16949 preferred. Must have strong communication skills and able to interface with all manufacturing personnel. Quality assurance experience preferred. Preferred candidate will have experience in a chemistry/coatings/resin plant and be familiar with implementing OSHA PSM. Candidate should show demonstrated process improvements through structured methodology (A3, root cause, PDCA, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.). Certifications (Green/Black belt) are preferred. Candidate must have strong Microsoft Office/Power BI/SharePoint/SAP skills. Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) capable of conversing and being understood by employees at all levels of the supply chain.
