Coordinates concurrent and retrospective medical record review and data abstraction for Core Measures, external collaboratives and other QI program. Focuses on special studies using EMR and other clinical data to ensure timely identification of patients per program specifics.
*Essential Functions:*
* Serves as a resource and leads or facilitates activities to maximize quality outcomes using PDCA QI model as indicated. Collaborates with key stakeholders to evaluate, plan and implement process improvements.
* Supports implementation of facility quality and patient safety goals, policies, procedures and activities designed to meet the requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies such as TJC, CMS, QIO, NCDHHS.
* Collects, evaluates and compiles review information and statistical data for Medical Staff and other RRHS units/departments.
* Coordinates peer review activities for physicians and other healthcare providers using Medical Staff approved QI criteria and provides information for service or department improvement activities, credentialing and reappointment.
* Responsible for managing timely responses to Performance Measure Systems.
* Responsible for maintaining an accurate tracking database of accounts, correspondence, actions and outcomes for assigned duties.
* Communicates with hospital stakeholders to ensure that defined deadlines are met and to ensure that pertinent outcomes information for training and/or process development as improvement.
* Utilizes data systems to enter and to maintain clinical information in the electronic and/or program database.
* Generates and distributes quarterly outcomes reports or more frequently as needed or requested.
* Refers any significant patient incidents, problems or concerns to the Director of the unit involved or to the Director of Quality.
Minimum EducationAssociate’s Degree in Nursing requiredBachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
*Certifications:*Basic Life Support (BLS) required
*Licenses:*
Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
Minimum Work Experience1-3 years preferred and recent acute care experience within past 3 years preferred
