Quality Leader - Metallic Materials Supply Chain
Job Description SummaryLead a team of quality and technology experts to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) key performance indicators (KPI). Leader focus will be on our Aerospace Metal Powder & Additive Powder Manufacturing Process supply chain and sub-tier suppliers that process product for GE Aerospace’s rotating parts, structures, and combustors value streams. Individual will own quality for raw material suppliers, including quality plan implementation, part and process qualification quality direction, and provide insights into supplier improvements, as a voice of customer. Own commodity supplier results, drive key performance indicator (KPI) improvements utilizing supplier scorecard and process data. Lead improvement plans for KPI advancement and towards the establishment of safety and quality partnership with GE Aerospace suppliers. Works with senior quality leadership to understand and overcome internal and external business challenges; advising and pioneering best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may influence work scope, standards, load reduction, and growth.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Team for compositesLead a team of diverse, global Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) to drive safety and quality improvements towards business level KPIsLeader must demonstrate sufficient engineering knowledge in the processes, to engage with the team and be a technical negotiator – drive/broker solutions with multiple parties (shops, materials engineers, design, sourcing, operations, etc.) – drive changes to systemic items and clear roadblocksLeads the team growth through the development and learning opportunities chosen for the team, seeking diverse challenges, and optimizing read across of team generated solutionsActively demonstrates active listening instead of multi-taskingUtilize digital tools, standard work, and free people up to think critically and engage them in projectsMaintains a supportive role in decision making about important business projects, goals, and subjects regarding the coatings and chemical processingRegularly advises senior management in the function and/or in the business regarding quality initiatives, projects, root cause and corrective analysis investigations, and moreImpacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality, and timeliness of objectivesDemonstrates specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise within their coatings or chemical process disciplineOwns supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellenceCommunicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on topics regarding forgings and NDEHigh levels of evaluative judgment are required to achieve outcomes requiredUses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems that impact the functionHas ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendationsUses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decisionWork is subject to functional policy objectivesMay lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity of both product and processesMay require strong commercial awareness and is expected to influence the development of strategy within own area, including control of resources and influences policy formulationMay guide others to consider a different point of view

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 4 years in aerospace quality experience or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of aerospace quality, composite manufacturing operations, team leadership, and aerospace supply chain experience.Demonstrated organizational leadership experience in quality systems foundations and adherence, via industry requirements and audits.
