What You’ll Do:

 

The Quality Leader’s role is to provide oversight and leadership for our Spartanburg QC Lab and its personnel to ensure Safety, Quality, and Production requirements are met. They will be the site leader for all Quality Control activities including: QMS activities, Standard Work Process, Audits, and Collaboration with Lubrizol’s global quality groups.

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

Provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to QC lab, ensuring that QC targets are met. Trains, coaches, and develops each member of the QC Laboratory team to their full potential. Manages the site's ISO 9001, RSPO, Halal and cGMP standards. Maintains the systems needed to retain certification, including the document control system, preventive and corrective action system, and the internal auditing function. Utilize SPC tools to analyze and improve QC processes and support plant operations to do the same. Monitors plant processes to ensure quality performance and supports operations with compliance efforts. Leads/governs document control system for quality and plant operations. Leads continuous improvement initiatives in the areas of quality, cost-efficiency, and test methods. Serves as a key contributor to the Corrective and Preventive Action process. Partners with the Spartanburg Management Team to meet our customers' needs. Generates solutions and directs activities to resolve quality problems. Actively participates in site safety systems. Maintains Key Performance Indicators related to QC targets. Acts upon underlying adverse trends. Interacts with SAP and BOBJ to input and extract data relevant to the role. Assists in developing and improving test methods to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Facilitate responses to customer complaints. Recommends and justifies capital purchases of equipment necessary to increase the accuracy of data required. Assists in developing product dispositions for all nonconforming material for the plant. Provides resources and technical support for continuous improvement programs in the plant. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA) environmental requirements.  Successfully complete RCRA training upon hire and annually thereafter. Responsible for implementation of Corporate Quality Strategy and policies at the site through indirect reporting to Corporate QA. Lead and develop self-directed work teams in all areas of influence by coaching, enabling, developing, and mentoring all direct reports. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

Bachelor’s degree is required.  BS in Chemistry or related discipline is preferred. At least 3 years’ quality control laboratory experience, at least 10 years’ other laboratory experience, or a combination of the two.  Chemical manufacturing experience is preferred. Experience with ISO  or other regulated environments including (Chemicals, Food, Pharma) is required. Experience with analytical testing equipment and method development. Knowledge of safe lab practices, lab techniques and quality management principles. Experience leading, supervising, and mentoring others. Strong leadership skills and previous management experience. Strong working knowledge of SPC tools and processes. Experience with document control and procedures principles Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, and other computer applications
