Job Title: Quality Lab Technician
Job Description

The Lab Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide quality testing of extruded material in accordance with customer requirements and the Aluminum Standards Association guidelines. This position ensures that all activities are performed and documented in accordance with quality requirements. The technician operates tensile testing equipment safely and accurately, utilizing measuring techniques to adhere to the tolerances set forth by the Aluminum Standard Association. Additionally, the role involves conducting quality inspections on aluminum before, during, and after processing, retrieving and documenting data in Epics, collaborating with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns, and promoting the highest quality product while supporting the Quality Management System.

ResponsibilitiesOperate tensile testing equipment safely and accurately.Measure distance and thickness of aluminum material using micrometers, calipers, and routers.Conduct quality inspections on aluminum before, during, and after processing.Retrieve and document data per customers’ specifications in Epics extrusion software.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns.Maintain a clean quality lab and manufacturing area.Promote the highest quality product and support the Quality Management System.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills3+ years of quality control experience.Familiarity with precision measurement tools like micrometers and calipers.Good organizational skills and technical capabilities.Basic computer skills.Proficiency in basic math and communication skills.Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.Capability to prioritize tasks.Additional Skills & QualificationsManufacturing/machine operating experience preferred if no QC experience.1+ years of QC experience with a degree in Scientific or Engineering fields such as material science, biology, chemistry, mechanical, or chemical.Knowledge of ASTM Standards is preferred but not required.Work Environment

The work environment is a mechanical lab that may contain oil, saw dust, and metal chips, which can be messy. The graveyard shift runs from Monday to Thursday, 9 pm to 7 am, while the day shift is from Monday to Thursday, 7 am to 5 pm. Training is required for 3 weeks on the graveyard shift as a Saw Helper/QC, focusing on identifying defects, packing, and cutting, followed by 3 weeks on the day shift as a Lab Tech reporting to the Quality Engineer, performing testing with the Quality Engineer. Personal Protective Equipment, including ear plugs, eye protection, safety gloves, and metatarsal boots, is provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.
