Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Quality Lab Technician is to conduct quality testing of extruded aluminum material in line with customer requirements and the guidelines set forth by the Aluminum Standards Association. The role requires ensuring compliance with internal quality standards and operating tensile testing equipment safely and accurately. This position involves measuring techniques to adhere to tolerances defined by the Aluminum Standard Association, conducting quality inspections on aluminum before, during, and after processing, and documenting data using Epics extrusion software. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns and maintaining a clean lab and manufacturing area are also essential duties.
ResponsibilitiesProvide quality testing of extruded aluminum material according to customer requirements and Aluminum Standards Association guidelines.Ensure compliance with internal quality requirements and document activities accordingly.Operate tensile testing equipment safely and accurately to measure tensile strength.Utilize measuring techniques to adhere to tolerances using tools such as micrometers and calipers.Conduct quality inspections on aluminum before, during, and after processing.Retrieve and document data per customer specifications using Epics extrusion software.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns.Maintain a clean lab and manufacturing area.Promote the highest quality product and support the Quality Management System.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills3+ years of quality control experience or 1+ years with a Scientific or Engineering degree.Familiarity with precision measurement tools, such as micrometers and calipers.Knowledge of ASTM Standards (preferred but not required).Good organizational skills and technical capabilities.Basic computer skills.Strong basic math and communication skills.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to prioritize tasks.Additional Skills & QualificationsManufacturing or machine operating experience preferred if no quality control experience.Demonstrated ability to collect samples, conduct material testing, and perform quality audits.Work Environment
The work environment includes a mechanical lab setting, which may involve exposure to oil, sawdust, and metal chips, making it potentially messy. The role offers two shifts: a graveyard shift from Monday night to Thursday morning, 9pm to 7am, and a day shift from Monday to Thursday, 7am to 5pm. Training is required for three weeks on the graveyard shift as a Saw Helper/QC and three weeks on the day shift as a Lab Tech. Personal Protective Equipment, including ear plugs, eye protection, safety gloves, and metatarsal boots, is provided. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.
