Quality Inspector - NDE

Job Summary:

The Quality Inspector works together with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Customers, and Plant Management to ensure all products that are to be released from the Service Center meet and/or exceed Engineering and Quality Assurance requirements. In this role you will be the primary Certified Level II Non-Destructive Examiner in the Charlotte Nuclear Service Center and the Memphis Hot Shop [VT, PT, MT, UT]. Additionally, perform documented mechanical inspections to verify conformance of components to applicable drawings, procedures, specifications, and all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. The Inspector is responsible for the content of the component inspection plan and project quality plan according to customer’s and Flowserve’s specifications; for completing and controlling all project required QC documents throughout the component manufacturing process. Reports directly to the Facility Quality Manager. Associated Nuclear Quality Assurance Program requirements are in accordance with NQA-1, 10CFR50 App B, 10CFR21, and ASME Section III [NPT and NR accreditations].

Work schedule: Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm. Availability to work an occasional weekend is required.

Location: Charlotte, NC. There is a 25% up to 50% travel to our other site in Memphis, TN.

Responsibilities:

Qualify, perform and maintain certifications as a Non-Destructive Examinations Level II Inspector in accordance with SNT-TC-1A, Nuclear Quality Assurance Program requirements and written procedures [VT, PT, UT and MT].Qualify, perform and maintain certifications as a Level II Mechanical Inspector in accordance with ASME/ANSI N45.2.6, NQA-1 and as outlined in Nuclear Quality Program requirements.Complete and document inspection results on designated inspection reports using manual inspection instrumentation, engineered drawings, production orders, and other associated procedures.Documenting non-conforming material utilizing our approved Non-Conformance Procedures. Review supplier certifications for completeness during receiving inspection and commercial grade dedication processes. Reviewing and complete manufacturing and testing documents/procedures as required by the inspection body.Identification of material and components to maintain component traceability.Maintain and support facility related goals such as on-time performance, first-time quality, and other associated key performance indicators.Responsible for continuous growth and responsibility in Quality ControlAbility to safely drive a forklift and operate overhead cranes.

Requirements:

HS Diploma / GED and no less than 5 years relevant experience within a manufacturing environment.Current SNT-TC-1A NDE Level II qualifications [PT, VT, UT and MT].Knowledge of welding, machining, and quality systems.Knowledge of the established quality standards, laws and regulations of national and international authorities.Flexible, eager to learn, accurate, analytical with positive, can-do attitude.Flexibility and willingness to travel (25% as minimum).Good interpersonal, communication, negotiation, analytical and presentation skills.Problem solving skills.Operational Excellence & High Level of Customer Service Standard.Must be a US person.

Preferred Experience / Skills: 

Bachelor's or related technical degree.Expert level of knowledge on inspection equipment generally found in machining, assembly and test operations.Familiar with pumps.Experience performing examinations on castings.Working experience in a nuclear environment.
