Key Accountabilities
Responsible for all incoming quality inspection activities , including proper documentation , supplier interface as related to corrective action requests , 8D / AR reports identifying root cause and compliance measures. Internal KPI tracking and follow up and closure. Identify and inventory any non-conforming materials in Quality containment area and follow to final disposition . Responsible for conducting in-process inspections of all VT trailer platform builds at required in-process milestones. Maintain / Build a documentation file, Audit in process VT production, Complete quality inspection documentation, and Photograph trailers throughout entire build process.Record serial numbers for all major OEM components installed (may include trailer chassis components)Conduct, observe, or obtain documented confirmation of completion of functionality testing of each build, including but not limited to - paint, electrical, plumbing, etc.Create inspection punch lists and follow up with production to verify completionGather OEM paperwork for all major components installedFollow up with all relevant departments through the end of each VT build to help ensure that the final product will meet customer expectations and requirementsBasic Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.Maintain completion of all trailer traceability documentation to meet the requirements of ISO9001.Assist during internal/External ISO9001 audits as required.Maintain Quality P drive documentation to continue to meet ISO9001 level requirements.Assist in the continual improvement and development of the quality assurance process to meet the needs of the business as it evolves.Monitor, maintain and improve the phase 85 quality checklist process to meet production needs.Meet with customer as necessary during customer acceptances. Follow up with customer issues to closure.Additional responsibilities as requiredRequirements:
Minimum 3 years working in trailer production – custom-interior, structural, or electrical-mechanicalAbility to maintain safe work practices, and identify and help resolve any safety issues as appropriateProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for data entry and report-writingProficiency with use of photography, including downloading, saving, and emailing photosAbility to read and understand engineering drawings, sales quotes (work orders), and customer specification documentsAbility to create punch lists for trailers to ensure all requirements are met before shipmentAbility to work with electrical and mechanical technicians to complete all required functionality testing, including high-voltage, low-voltage, A/V and data, hydraulic, plumbing, and HVACAbility to gain proficiency in basic structural inspections, including checking for welds and performing basic functionality testing of chassis components using testing machineryAbility to conduct incoming material inspections, including verifying items meet the purchase specifications, check for any damage or defects, and conduct necessary follow-up regarding any problemsAbility to investigate incoming product and contain non-conforming materials and drive actions back to the supply base using a structured problem-solving approach ( 8D , AR, … ). Track and report supplier data points ( On time delivery ,Overall quality , Safety KPI’sAbility to operate scissor-lift for inspection and testing of upper areas and roofs of trailers, as well as conduct water tests of trailers from the lift with a high-pressure fire hoseAbility to work well with minimal supervision, includingtaking initiative to identify and carry out next tasksapproaching and follow up with personnel from various departments to resolve open issuesEffective verbal and written communication skillsRequired:
Basic quality and problem-solving skills, academic qualification or relevant experience.Preferred:
