Quality Inspector I

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality inspector I to support our Environmental Testing process within our Quality Department. This role focuses on ensuring the quality of optical components through various testing methods including visual inspection, blueprint reading and the use of temperature influence chambers. The inspector I will work under the guidance of senior staff to ensure all components tested meet required specifications and quality standards. The inspector I is responsible for maintaining quality records, handing material safely, and adhering to company safety standards while working in a lab environment. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with setup, monitoring and completion of environmental test such as thermal cycling, temperature shock, salt spray and humidity testing. Perform visual inspections before and after environmental testing. Read and understand blueprints, specifications, and military specifications. Support documentation review, data collection, and test log entries. Work closely with engineering and senior quality staff to learn test protocols and ensure test compliance. Follow all safety protocols and work instructions.  Maintain cleanliness and organization of the environmental testing area. Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement activities. 

Education & Experience

1-2 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or optical manufacturing. High School diploma or equivalent.

 

Skills

Uses calipers, micrometers, hand tools, height gauges, calculators, electronic gauges, light sources, interferometers, personal computers and test equipment for various product. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Good communication skills and the ability to follow written procedures Previous experience in a lab, manufacturing, or environmental testing is a plus
