GENERAL DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Engineer to join our Norton Rixson manufacturing team located on Hwy 74 in Monroe, NC. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the quality of our door closer products by collaborating with engineering, office staff, and the production team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working across all levels of the organization.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance standards, procedures, and documentation in alignment with company and customer requirements. Collaborate with design and process engineers to ensure quality considerations are integrated into product and process development. Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives related to product quality issues. Monitor production processes and perform in-process inspections to ensure products meet specifications and quality standards. Interface with hourly production team members to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions on the floor. Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits. Analyze quality data, generate reports, and drive continuous improvement through statistical methods (e.g., SPC, Pareto analysis). Maintain and update quality control documentation such as control plans, inspection instructions, and test methods. Train production and inspection staff on quality standards and best practices.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field. 2+ years of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing environment (experience with mechanical products or assemblies preferred). Strong knowledge of quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001), tools, and methodologies. Experience with root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) and problem-solving tools. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP/MRP systems. Familiarity with measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) and blueprint reading.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in metal fabrication or mechanical assembly environments. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (certification a plus). Familiarity with PPAP, FMEA, and control plan development.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Split time between office environment and production floor. May require occasional standing, walking, bending, or lifting moderate weights.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the associate is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
