Job Description
This position is for a Plant Quality Engineer responsible for ensuring that products and processes adhere to all standards and requirements. The role involves participating in quality-improvement initiatives and projects, performing quality reviews and internal audits, evaluating data, and writing reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
ResponsibilitiesRecommend quality improvement by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.Research statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error rate, determining levels of confidence.Analyze quality data from plant processes or customer indicators.Provide feedback to customers based on quality projects (e.g., warranty, APQP, issues).Lead quality investigations and problem-solving.Research statistical reliability using mean time before failure, reliability modeling, and reliability demonstration tests.Develop quality improvement experiments using full and fractional factorial techniques.Develop sampling plans using attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods.Maintain statistical process controls using demerit/unit, zone charting, charts for distributions, and individual-media/range for multi-stream processes.Analyze data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests.Prepare statistical information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.Contribute to quality engineering and organizational success by welcoming related, different, and new requests and assisting others in accomplishing job results.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a Manufacturing environmentProficient in APQP, PPAPExperience with IATF / automotive industryProven troubleshooting and root cause analysis (8D or Shainin)Experience in capability studies, statistical analysis, and statistical process controlAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Minitab / Statistical analysisSPC experienceWork Environment
The role is divided into approximately 60% on the floor and 40% at a desk, supporting plant operations with standard hours from 6am to 3pm, amounting to around 50 hours a week. The team comprises 14 Quality Engineers, split into three areas: Gears, Assembly, and Components (Machining), with this role primarily supporting Assembly and Components. Working on the 1st shift provides an opportunity for significant project ownership and leadership within the organization, with internal training and development from engineering leadership. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
