Quality Engineer Job Description This role requires effective communication skills to engage with people at a cross-functional level. The successful candidate will be responsible for presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, suppliers, customers, and the public both orally and in writing. Responsibilities + Develop and maintain a supplier quality system that ensures a reliable supply base. + Ensure compliance with procedures outlined in the Supplier Quality Manual, including ISO9001 and IATF16949. + Lead supplier development activities and implement necessary changes. + Participate in supplier reviews and provide input to the Purchasing Department regarding supplier quality. + Perform supplier quality audits according to ISO9001, IATF16949, and VDA6 standards. + Ensure reliability and accuracy of products from the supply base and timely disposition of nonconforming material. + Coordinate with suppliers on initiatives related to supplier quality performance, track performance trends, and facilitate corrective actions. + Utilize lean manufacturing, error proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives to develop robust processes ensuring zero defects. + Provide support to customers regarding supply-based issues. Qualifications + Thorough knowledge of quality tools and APQP methods such as FMEA, Control Plan, Measurement Equipment including MSA, and PPAP. + Ability to read technical specifications and drawings. + Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to implement continuous improvement techniques. + Ability to facilitate and improve cross-functional communication. + Proficiency in using business applications software and data analysis tools. + Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification and ISO/IATF auditor certification. + 2-5 years of related audit experience. + Experience in Plastic Molding and Assembly processes is preferred. + Must have an Engineering degree. + Experience in the automotive industry Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
