Quality Engineer

Job Summary: Xylem seeks to hire a Quality Engineer to support our manufacturing operations and supplier quality for explosion-proof pumps, with a strong focus on motor quality and assembly processes. This position will ensure that all products meet regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements through effective application of quality engineering principles, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement practices. Responsibilities: • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards and inspection procedures for explosion-proof pump systems, including motors and final assemblies. • Monitor and evaluate motor quality during incoming inspection, in-process assembly, and final testing stages. • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify root causes of product and process issues, and drive corrective and preventive actions. • Lead internal audits and participate in external audits (e.g., ISO 9001, ATEX/IECEx compliance). • Create and maintain control plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and other APQP documentation. • Support supplier quality activities, including qualification, performance monitoring, and issue resolution for drive units. • Maintain detailed documentation for compliance with explosion-proof equipment standards and certifications. • Analyze quality data, perform statistical analysis (SPC, capability studies), and provide recommendations for process improvements. • Train and support production personnel and suppliers on quality standards to ensure alignment with Xylem specifications. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and reduce defects. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably with explosion-proof pumps or similar products. • Strong knowledge of motor quality and assembly processes. • Proficient with quality tools such as FMEA, RCCA, and statistical methods. • Experience with ISO 9001. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Detail-oriented with a commitment to excellence.
