Job Title: Quality Engineer, Junior
Job Summary
Under general supervision, perform routine to moderately complex inspections and set quality standards for both in-process and finished products and materials. Develop methods for testing, sampling, and training. May evaluate production and recommend improvements. Work with quality inspection supervisors to train and oversee inspectors in their use of control forms, procedures, and correcting quality problems.
Responsibility
Collaborate with Plant quality engineers and process engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production. Provide support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques Assist in the resolution of quality issues with capability, tolerancing, and materials related concerns by: Identifying problems Examining solution options Implementing action plans. Effectively communicate and reinforce commitment to quality improvement efforts.Note: Notify proper personnel to assist in the resolution when required. Assist in PPAP process for new product launches to meet customer requirements. Aid with process stability and capability studies. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness. Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities. Assist engineering teams during the coordination of pre-launch production trial run. Validate Control Plan requirements are followed on the shop floor. Use appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action. Apply appropriate use of statistical techniques. Determine and apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools. Provide statistical information for quality improvement by identifying testing methods and samples. Establish statistical machine reliability by using statistical methods. Develop sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods. Analyze data by completing normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests. Perform conformance audits on product lines to assure customer satisfaction which include the following: Product is as per customer requirement 5S principles is followed throughout the process Personnel is following the posted work instructions Tagging process is followed as per requirement. Etc. Conduct Dock audits as per product requirement. Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations. Perform operator training as per posted instructions. (This may include training supervisor of the area) Evaluate effectiveness of training. Evaluate effectiveness of end of line inspection and provide feedback for improvements Generate and distribute end of shift reports as required.
Academic/Educational Requirements.
High School Diploma.
Required Skills/Experience
Three years of related experience with experience in quality assurance functions. Experience with APQP: Process Control Plans, PFMEA, Gauge Planning, and all levels of PPAP requirements. Read operating and quality assurance reports to understand technical and operational information about facilities, processes, and equipment. Experience in drawing interpretations and geometric dimensional tolerancing. Knowledge and experience in gauging methods, calibration, and gauge R and R’s. Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques. Able to train other employees, organize and lead meetings with employees Experience in writing and executing engineering test protocols Possess an understanding of experimental design and statistics Customer service focused with a commitment to continuous improvement. Proficient with MS Office and CAD applications. Familiar with ISO/IATF16949 quality standards. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing, and machining. Possess good communication skills (verbal and written form). Able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Maintain confidentiality of all information received from the customer/company.
