**In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:**
+ Establish a company-wide quality strategy aligned with business goals, promoting a culture shift from QC to QA.
+ Act as a key voice in the leadership team for quality-related decisions and investments.
+ Serve as mentor and coach to plant leadership and quality teams in driving continuous improvement.
+ Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain leaders to integrate quality into daily operations.
+ Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of quality professionals across all manufacturing sites. Direct responsibility for a high-performing team of 20 in Elyria as well as dotted line responsibility for all locations in North America.
+ Own and continuously improve the Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant standards.
+ Direct the internal auditing program with a shift from compliance checks to beneficial system health evaluations that drive improvement.
+ Provide strategic and technical guidance for the Metallurgy Department, aligning material science expertise with process and product innovation across divisions.
+ Supervise the Quality Engineer / Metallurgist, fostering a data-driven, problem-solving culture in daily metallurgy and material evaluation activities.
+ Collaborate with Training Managers, particularly at the Elyria site, to support the development and standardization of manufacturing training programs. Ensure alignment with quality objectives and help embed error-proofing, standard work, and best practices into operator training.
+ Develop and report on quality critical metrics including scrap rates, customer complaints, first-pass yield, and cost of quality—linking these to business outcomes.
+ Drive the annual Management Review process across certified sites, using a balanced scorecard approach to inform strategic decisions.
+ Conduct layered audits focused on process alignment, error-proofing, and operator engagement, not just documentation compliance.
+ Implement and refine in-line verification, standardized work, and visual management tools to reduce defects and eliminate waste.
+ Represent the Professional Tools group in customer and regulatory Quality System reviews, ensuring transparency and trust.
+ Serve as the quality lead on all New Product Development (NPD) initiatives, integrating quality planning (APQP), risk assessments, and design validation early in the process.
+ Promote a culture of continuous improvement through kaizen events, A3 problem solving, and structured root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
**Who You Are:**
You thrive on using data analytics, root cause analysis, and leading continuous improvement efforts to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and enhance product and process quality. You stay ahead with industry regulations, customer standards, and emerging quality technologies, and maximise them to make your organization more agile, resilient, and competitive.
**For This Role, You Will Need:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred.
+ Relevant years in quality leadership, preferably in manufacturing environments with multi-site responsibility commensurate with the level of this position.
+ Proven experience in creating a culture change around Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operator-led quality implementation.
+ Deep understanding of casting, forging, and machining processes, including statistical process control (SPC) and process capability (Cp, Cpk).
+ Proficient in structured problem-solving methodologies, data analytics, quality software tools (Minitab, QMS platforms), and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; adept at working across digital and interpersonal channels.
+ Primarily office-based with regular visits to production areas; ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
+ Required use of PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes) during factory floor visits.
+ Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
**Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:**
+ 10+ years in quality leadership, preferably in manufacturing environments with multi-site responsibility.
+ Experience with FMEA, control plans, gauge R&R, and other APQP tools.
+ Strong team leadership, communication, and multi-functional collaboration skills.
+ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or Lean certification strongly preferred.
